About placing an announcement
Each announcement starts with your loved one’s first name and surname, followed by their maiden name or nickname (if applicable). Within the main content of the announcement you may wish to include some key details such as the date and location of your loved one’s birth, marriage or death, as well as their age.
People tend to move around the country so it may be worth considering including a hometown or previous residence. You may wish to keep your announcement generic or perhaps add a personal message and names of those left behind, both acting as a factual record and a tribute that can be discovered by friends and family both now and in the future.
If you are placing a death announcement, you may wish to consider touching on the details of the funeral (such as time, date and location) and whether flowers or donations are preferred. Many people find it helpful to include details of the funeral director too.
Unlike in traditional printed announcements, there is no additional cost for including a photograph of your choice – this can be uploaded directly from your computer/device during the submission process. There is also no limit on the length of your announcement. We reserve the right to edit submissions or decline submissions that do not meet editorial guidelines.
