Sally launches new pilot boat
BURNHAM-On-Sea's brand new pilot boat was officially launched on Tuesday evening (Sep 5th) in a ceremony at the town's sailing club. Sally Denbee, the wife of the Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, poured a bottle of local cider champagne over the boat.
Rotary Club gives cash boost
TWO local worthy causes have this week received large handouts of cash from Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club. The presentation of £2,100 each to Burnham-On-Sea's BAY Centre and Highbridge's National Blind Childrens Society came after a busy year of fundraising.

THE Highbridge-based National Blind Children's Society has axed the jobs of 35 of its telemarketing staff just a month after announcing it was putting its lottery fundraising activities under review. The charity had suffered a fall in income from its lottery.
New £300,000 kids centre planned
PLANS to build a brand new £300,000 children's centre in Burnham-On-Sea moved a step closer on Monday (Sep 4th) when the county council unveiled plans for the building to town councillors. The proposed building was originally proposed for the centre of Burnham.

Long service award for Alan
ONE of Burnham-On-Sea's longest serving members of the Special Constabulary has retired after 21 years in the job. Alan Matthews has become a familiar face in the Burnham and Highbridge areas throughout his years of service, which began when he joined as a special in 1985.
