ONE person was arrested and a vehicle was seized during an incident in Highbridge Road, Burnham-On-Sea, on Friday evening (February 16th). A car was impounded by police officers after it was found to have no tax, insurance or MOT, confirmed a police spokesman.

THE base of Highbridge's historic war memorial appears to have been damaged by the extra traffic being diverted past it during ongoing major roadworks. Paving slabs around the Church Street landmark have split, as shown in our photo, prompting calls cfor more bollards to protect it.

BURNHAM'S seafront came to a standstill on Tuesday afternoon (February 13th) after a two-car accident. Police closed Cross Street at the junction with The Esplanade after the two estate vehicles collided at 3.30pm. No-one was injured in the incident.

COUNCILLOR Alan Ham, County Councillor for the Brent area, has this week handed over a cheque to the Brent Knoll Parish Hall Management Committee to help with their purchase of new tables at the hall. The grants is part of the annual £5,000 sum given to councillors for community causes.

AN ELDERLY Burnham-On-Sea man was rushed to Weston General hospital on Monday morning (February 12th) after suffering head injuries when he was blown over by gale-forced winds. Paramedics were called to Cross Street at 9.45am to deal with the man.
