Burnham-On-Sea zapcat duo ready for final Newquay rounds

-

A Burnham-On-Sea zapcat team has got high hopes of success as it gears up for the final four rounds of the Zapcat National Championships in Newquay this coming weekend.

East Huntspill’s Ryan Jones and Ashley Chappell, pictured, will be taking to the Cornish waters this Saturday and Sunday (September 22nd and 23rd) for rounds 11 and 12 of the championships.

In their first season, the “Huntspill Boyz” are lying in third position among the rookies taking part in the event, having won three silver medals, one bronze and one gold so far.

“We’re really looking forward to Newquay – the forecast is for rough surf, which should make some exciting conditions,” Ashley told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week. “Several competitors have already pulled out, but we’ll take part whatever the weather is.”

Burnham’s David Paget and Tony Cooper are also doing well in the championships and are in second place in Division One after a good showing in the previous round in Bournemouth.

The duo were pleased with result, as it put them in a strong place going into this week’s Newquay rounds.

After this weekend, there will be just two final rounds to go – on October 12th and 13th in Watergate Bay, Newquay.
