A fun-packed line-up of activities from more than 20 local groups will be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s first youth festival this Sunday (June 21st).
The free YouthFest is being run by Burnham Youth Town Council and Burnham and District Lions Club and will take place in the Manor Gardens from 12pm-6pm.
“There will be lots of great activities, including a giant seven metre climbing tower, ju-jitsu, a youth dance group, an African drumming band, a karaoke competition and much more,” Peter Burridge-Clayton, one of the event’s organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Groups taking part include The Shed Youth Club, Morland Youth Centre, Highbridge Dreamscheme, Burnham Police, King Alfred School, KASdanz, an African drumming band, BEES, Monarchs Gymnastics Club, St John Cadets, Burnham Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Force Cadets, the YMCA, King Alfred Sports Centre, Burnham Ju-Jitsu group and Burnham rescue group BARB.
There will also be live music from various local up-and-coming music groups during the afternoon.
Burnham and District Lions Club have donated £750 to help with the funding of the event and its President, Andrew Bryant, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are very happy to support youth events like this in our area and hope as many people come along as possible. It should be a fun afternoon.”
The event’s activities will be free, except for a small charge of £2 for the climbing tower.
