Over 100 young people from the Burnham-On-Sea area will gather in Highbridge next week to take part in a special concert organised by the town’s Rotary Club.
The schoolchildren will come together on Thursday 27th March for the Rotary Club’s ‘Youth Makes Music’ concert.
Following the success of the event last year, St John’s Church in Highbridge will again host the event, which is not a competition, but simply designed to encourage schools, staff and pupils to enjoy and take part in making and performing music, either vocal or instrumental.
Six junior schools from Burnham and Highbridge will be taking part, together with pupils from King Alfred School.
So far, over 100 children are involved in performances. Participating schools have been given tickets to sell to parents and friends, and with the numbers involved, a full church is expected.
Schools will keep the proceeds from their ticket sales for the benefit of their music departments; while the Rotary Club will provide stewards and other organisational support.
