Burnham Carnival Queen presents cheque to special needs group

Burnham and Highbridge’s Carnival Queen has presented a cheque for hundreds of pounds to a local special needs club following a successful fundraising event.

Carnival Queen Abbi Fear raised £520 for Somerset Time For Youth during the annual Carnival Queen Fun day and Youth Parade held in Burnham in June.

Somerset Time For Youth which is a club for local children with special needs and has held a special event in Abbi’s honour where she presented the cheque to Somerset Time For Youth. Abbi has been a valued member of the club since April 2014, when it first began.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We really can’t thank Abbi enough, the money she raised is amazing and we are going to use some of it to put on a fantastic new year’s party for our members.”

Somerset Time For Youth is aimed at young people aged 0-18 with special needs, who meet every other Saturday at The Balliol Hall in West Huntspill from 10.30am-1pm. They recently opened a sensory room where members can enjoy the relaxing and calming experience of sensory lights and music.
