Highbridge Youth Club issues appeal for new leaders

-

Highbridge Community Youth Club has this week issued an appeal for new leaders to come forward to avoid it having to turn away youngsters.

The long-running club, which is based at Morland Youth Hall, requires leaders aged 16 and above to help its weekly Tuesday evening sessions.

“The club can currently only accommodate 35 youngsters at a time due to the number of leaders we have. This has unfortunately meant some children have been turned away on the nights we are at our maximum,” current Youth Club building manager Jason Adams told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We are keen to expand, but need new leaders to come forward – even if they can only spare just one Tuesday evening a month.”

To find out more about becoming a leader, call Jason on 07828 128338.

The appeal was made this week at the same trime that the club, which meets every Tuesday from 6-8pm, launched a series of street dance workshops, pictured right.

The sessions are being organised by Bekki Covell and help children learn street dance, hip hop and other dance moves that help to build up their confidence. The sessions are open to youngsters aged 8-15. The club was started five years ago by Gill Bawler.
