8-year-old Burnham photographer hits national press with sunset shot

-

A young photographer in Burnham-On-Sea who took this stunning photo of the town’s iconic lighthouse has had it published in a national newspaper.

Poppy Harris, 8, took the shot of the beach lighthouse bathed in evening sunshine with a silhouetted person doing a cartwheel using a Canon EOS 1100D camera.

Mum Vicky told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Poppy loves taking photos when we are out and about having fun.”

“The photo was taken as the sun was setting. We were both doing cartwheels and taking pictures – it’s me in this picture.”

“I use The Guardian Witness app to upload pictures which are sometimes used online and occasionally in the paper.”

“This time, as well as making it onto The Guardian online, the picture also made it to the Guardian newspaper!”

“Poppy was very excited when I showed her the newspaper, she said it made her feel very happy and proud. I am certainly a proud mum!”
