Burnham and Highbridge ‘young enterprise’ pupils win top award

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge students from King Alfred School’s Sixth Form enjoyed great success in the Somerset County Finals of the Young Enterprise Company Programme at the weekend.

Held at the food festival in Taunton on Saturday 12th May, their small business called Calore won the top prize for Best Product.

The business was formed back in September 2017 and produces eco-friendly scented candles made from vegan products and recycled jam jars.

By Saturday lunchtime they had sold out of their stock – as members of the public were particularly taken by the fact that the students had made the candles in the science labs in the school.

The group comprises Sasha Moores: Managing Director, Tom Sala-Rich: Sales Manager , Alex Vowles: Marketing Director, Finley McDiarmid, Hannah Puddy and Michael Hainsby: Finance Directors, Harvey Chandler: Human Resources Manager, Adam Parsons: Human Resources Assistant, Ewan Murdoch: Operations Director, Thomas Nullmeyers: IT Manager, Leanne Thomas: Administration Manager, and Cain Smith: Sales Assistant.

The group thanked Mr King who has co-ordinated the programme and supported the students during the development of their business.
