A new Young Enterprise Group from King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge is selling a wide range of crochet, jewellery, greetings cards and gifts using recycled materials.
Threadly is a group of more than 20 students in Year 12 who have designed and manufactured their unique products with recycled wool and fabrics.
The group held their first craft stall at the school during a breaktime selling Christmas decorations, jewellery and cards. It proved to be popular with staff and students alike.
Isabelle, the Managing Director of Threadly, says: “We have also started selling our products in a local craft shop in Burnham-On-Sea, Silver Shores in Victoria Street, who have kindly offered to display some items and we are hoping to have more on sale soon.”
She added: “We will be having more stalls at the school and also at local craft fairs. If anyone would like to help support us by stocking our range of items please contact the school and we can come and let you see what we can make.”
Mr King, the school’s Head of Business Studies, congratulated the group and added: “Our young enterprise company, Threadly, have been very productive selling stock at the school and also at selective outlets locally. Many thanks to Bakkavor and Dave Baum Finance for supporting our students.”
The group are busy planning new products and ideas, possibly with seasonal items with themes such as Valentines, Easter, Spring and Summer.
