Firefighters from Burnham-On-Sea tackle huge pub blaze in Yeovil

-

Dozens of firefighters from across Somerset – including Burnham-On-Sea – were called to tackle a huge fire that destroyed a pub in Yeovil early on Sunday (January 6th).

Sixteen fire appliances and crews from Yeovil, Burnham-On-Sea, Martock, Somerton, Sherborne, Chard, Castle Cary, Taunton, Street, Ilminster and Bridgwater were called to the Bell Inn in Preston Road shortly after 4.20am.

It took the crews over four hours to extinguish the blaze and bring it fully under control.

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews attended with a welfare support unit.

While nobody was hurt, the building was completely gutted and an investigation is now underway into the cause.
