Two Burnham-On-Sea lifeboats were launched on Wednesday evening (August 3rd) to help a yacht that had run aground on the banks of the River Brue.
The yacht, called Kate, initially got into difficulty on Wednesday morning when its owner misjudged the incoming tide and ended up stranded on the banks near the entrance to the river.
A dinghy from Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club was sent out to bring the man onboard back to shore.
When the returning tide surrounded the yacht at around 9.30pm, two lifeboats were sent out to tow the yacht off the banks and return it to its mooring at Burnham Sailing Club’s pontoons.
Graham Wills, Burnham RNLI Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The owner of the yacht is a long-running Sailing Club member who was understandably upset when that he had misjudged the tide. The lifeboat crews were happy to help return the yacht to the shore.”
