Final preparations are being made for this Saturday’s official switch-on of Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights.
The switch-on ceremony will be held outside the Victoria Hotel in Victoria Street and is being organised by the town’s Chamber of Trade.
Burnham-On-Sea’s Carnival Queen and her Princesses will join the Mayor in switching on the lights.
The event gets underway at 3pm with live music from popular local band The Ginger Hitlas, to be followed by a special visit from Father Christmas at 3.45pm, and the switch-on itself at 4.30pm.
Queen Jessica Rogers and her princesses, Danielle Hockey and Bethany May Ellis, will be helped by Mayor Derick Cooper in lighting up the town’s High Street and adjoining roads with dozens of festive illuminations.
Face painting, refreshments, hot snacks and mulled wine will also be available. And there will also be a visit by Fergus The Tractor and BARB’s Light Of Elizabeth hovercraft. A reception for invited guests will also be held after in The Princess. A book signing will also take place at Sea Breeze Art Gallery in Victoria Street.
