A group of rapping pensioners from Burnham-On-Sea are set to release their first album and a single in time for Christmas, with the hope of clinching number one in the seasonal pop charts!
The Wrinkly Rappers, pictured here, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week they are planning to record their first album and a Christmas hit to raise money for charity.
Trio Brenda Brooks, Marian Bowers – both from Burnham – and Belinda Marks of Bridgwater, got together last year.
Their raps started after listening to two young girls, who made up a rap about older people, saying they were “not cool and did not understand youngsters”.
Since then, because of audience demand, the rappers – who have the stage names B’n’B, Snowy and Baby Bel – have been hard at work.
B’n’B has written other raps and the alternative crew has performed their raps to raise money for charity.
They auditioned for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, but did not impress the judges enough during the second audition round in Cardiff. Now, the group is working on an album with proceeds to go to charity.
Brenda told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Sunday: “We are all excited about the plans and are hoping to record the album, featuring ten of our original raps, during the next few weeks in time for Christmas.”
“The music for the Christmas Rap, called Unrapped At Christmas, is finished, and the album cover is being designed by a friend in London.”
“Proceeds from the album will go to help support Alzheimer’s Research Trust, a really well worthwhile charity.”
The Alzheimer’s Research Trust is the UK’s leading research charity for dementia.
