A group of rapping pensioners from Burnham-On-Sea have this week expressed their disappointment at not getting shown on ITV’s talent show Britain’s Got Talent.
Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report in January how the ‘The Wrinkly Rappers’ were heading off to perform in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.
They impressed the judges enough to get a second audition in February, but their audition was not broadcast on the TV show, which ends later this week.
The group, pictured above, comprise Brenda Brooks (56), Marian Bower (66), Belinda Marks (46) and Terry Reynolds (65).
Brenda told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are all very disappointed not to have been shown on TV, having spent many weeks glued to our screens each Saturday night waiting to see if we’d appear.”
“Many thousands of acts went through the auditions, and only a small number actually get televised.”
“It also seems as though very few acts from the auditions in Cardiff actually got shown on the programme.”
But she added that it is not the end of the road for the group, who will be performing at various events over the summer months.
“We’ll be performing at Highbridge Childrens Centre’s fifth birthday party on July 17th and will also be performing at a Brean fashion show for the local lifeboat on July 15th. We’ll also be performing at the Celtic Blue Rock Festival in Cardigan on July 31st.”
“It promises to be a busy summer, despite the disappointment of the TV show,” she said.
