Burnham-On-Sea musicians head off to ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent!

-

A group of fun-loving musicians from Burnham-On-Sea are set to entertain millions of people across the UK by appearing on ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent.

The ‘Wrinkly Rappers’, who comprise Brenda Brooks (56), Marian Bower (66), Belinda Marks (46) and Terry Reynolds (65), are heading to Cardiff next week to perform in front of VIP judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden in the first round of the popular TV talent show.

The group went along to the show’s auditions last December and were thrilled on Monday (January 26th) to get a phone call from the producers, inviting them along to the recording of the programme.

Brenda told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday (January 26th) that the tongue-in-cheek group aims to prove that “older people can still be a lot of fun and make people laugh.”

She added: “We know our singing’s not that good, but the producers thought our self-written rap was hilarious and very original.”

“We’ve been waiting to hear whether we’d made it through to the first round of the show for several weeks and thought we hadn’t made it.”

“But then today we got a phone call out of the blue inviting us to appear at the New Street Threatre in Cardiff next week.”

“We’re shocked and absolutely delighted – we’ll be performing in front of an audience of 2,000 people, so it’s going to be quick an experience!”

Brenda and Marian both come from Burnham-On-Sea, while Belinda’s from Bridgwater and Terry lives in Corsham. They met while taking part in a folk music event for the Caravan Club.

Burnham-On-Sea.com will be following the group’s progress during the series
