Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackled a blaze in a commercial garage workshop in Highbridge on Wednesday evening (December 13th) in which one person was treated for minor burns.
Crews were called to Commerce Way, Highbridge at 5.50pm, where three fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater were quickly on scene.
It comes after multiple calls from staff and members of the public reporting a fire in a garage workshop.
“The initial crew arrived on scene at 6.01pm with staff reporting that the fire, believed to be in an extraction unit, was out after staff had extinguished it with three dry powder extinguishers,” a fire service spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“To ensure this crews removed the panelling around the extraction unit, within the welding workshop, to check for fire spread or hotspots with a thermal imaging camera.”
“Additional equipment used were two breaking apparatus, one hose reel jet, a safety jet, small tools and ladders.”
“A member of staff was also treated by ourselves with burns gel after sustaining minor burns to his hands. An ambulance was not required.”
The incident was brought under control at 6.39pm, once crews were satisfied that the fire was out and the area made safe.
