Highbridge women’s evening raises over £700 for cancer charity

-

A fundraising women’s evening held at Highbridge’s Oaktree Arena at the weekend has been hailed a success after raising hundreds of pounds.

The event first came to life when Somerset Breast Cancer Now’s late chairperson Christine Piper wanted an evening for women to have fun and be pampered.

“It only seems fitting in our 20th anniversary year that we should bring back this popular event in memory of a very special lady,” Holly MacBeth, the group’s current chairperson, told Burnham-on-Sea.com.

“And what a success it was! Christine would have loved it!”

“From beautiful handmade crafts and homemade treats, to lots of lovely women having mini massages, facials, nails and more, it also included muisic from the brilliant Havenless Band and the Pink Bra’s brass band who were outstanding!”

“We are so thank full once again to all our loyal supporters who attended the night – without you and the Oaktree Arena, these events are not possible to do. The feedback has been brilliant and we are sure this event will return in 2018!”

The group’s next event is supporting the Weston Lions Club Real Ale & Cider Festival on 28th, 29th, 30th July on the beach lawns at Weston where Somerset Breast Cancer Now has been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the event.

The Pink Bra’s will be performing at Wells Town Hall on July 8th to help fundraise for one of their band members Stephen Sykes to help fund his cancer treatment. Tickets are available via www.pinkbrass.co.uk.
