The Met Office has issued a severe weather alert for the south west, including Burnham-On-Sea, warning of potential snowfall today (Sunday) and Monday.
The ‘yellow alert’ states: “Rain pushing in from the west is expected to turn to snow on the leading edge, with the potential for accumulations of several centimetres, especially on hills. For Wales and South West England the snow is expected to begin on Sunday.”
The Burnham-On-Sea area is on the edge of the area at risk, as shown on the Met Office’s map.
Temperatures are forecast to not rise above 3 degrees Centigrade and to fall as low as freezing over the next 24 hours.
“The public are advised to be aware of the potential for disruption to traffic and to take extra care,” added a Met Office spokesman.
