The Met Office has issued an updated yellow warning for high winds and heavy rain in the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Sunday, July 29th).
A spell of very wet and windy weather is forceast to sweep across the west country, drenching the Burnham area, and after the long spell of dry weather there is a chance of localised flooding.
The unseasonal weather is expected in Burnham-On-Sea from 4am until 4pm on Sunday.
A spokesman at the Met Office says: “Southerly winds will gust at around 35-40mph and up to 50 mph for exposed coasts and hills.”
“In addition to the wind, heavy rain is expected. Rain will be most persistent over hills with rainfall totals of 30-40 mm likely to build up.”
“The weather conditions on Sunday will come in stark contrast to what has been typical recently, this may increase the chance of impacts.”
The Met Office adds that there is a risk of “spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible. Damage to tents or other temporary structures is possible.”
The Burnham-On-Sea tide times for Sunday show that high tide is at 8.41am with a 9.9mn tide while a 10.2m tide will take place at 8.58pm.
