High winds caused disruption in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Sunday (May 22nd) when trees were brought down and a road was closed due to blowing sand.

Sedgemoor District Council’s tree wardens were called to Burnham Road at 10.15am, as pictured above, after a tree tumbled onto a garden and partly blocked the road.

Home owner Eileen Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was a loud crack and the tree came crashing down. I looked outside and was quite shocked to see it down – a neighbour’s caravan was slightly damaged, but luckily no-one was about at the time.”

And beach wardens at Berrow had to close the road onto the village’s beach three hours early on Sunday afternoon after the strong winds blew a large quantity of sand across the road, blocking it, as pictured below.
