Dozens attend wind farm protest meeting near Burnham-On-Sea

-

Dozens of people who are concerned at proposals to build a new wind farm near Burnham-On-Sea attended a protest meeting on Friday (April 8th).

Over 60 signatures were collected from people opposed to EDF Energy’s plans to build five wind turbines on farmland between the former Royal Ordinance Factory and the Huntspill River near East Huntspill.

The Huntspill Wind Farm Action Group arranged Friday’s Wind Farm Public Consultation Day at Woolavington Village Hall to gather feedback on the formal planning application.

Spokeswoman Julie Trott, pictured right, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event went really well – we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.”

“There is a lot of concern about the plans and visitors were able to see the detailed proposals and get advice on writing objection letters to Sedgemoor District Council.”

The details of the new application, including the precise locations of the proposed wind turbines and the associated infrastructure, can be viewed on Sedgemoor District Council’s website or at the council’s offices in Bridgwater.
