250 villagers attend heated debate on EDF’s wind farm proposals

-

There was standing room only in East Huntspill Village Hall on Monday evening (February 13th) when more than 250 residents got the chance to tackle EDF and council bosses on controversial wind farm proposals.

The residents converged on the hall to air their views about two major wind farm applications near East Huntspill.

The meeting – which saw heated debate at times – was overseen by Brent Knoll district councillor Bob Filmer, pictured, who is chairman of Sedgemoor’s Development Control Committee that will ultimately decide whether the schemes go ahead.

EDF’s team was on hand to answer a raft of questions covering concerns on the environment, noise, traffic and compensation.

A second, separate meeting will take place at Balliol Hall in West Huntspill on Thursday evening to discuss Ecotricity’s plan.
