Blimp protest held at site of planned wind farm near Burnham-On-Sea

-

A group of residents near Burnham-On-Sea who are fighting two major wind farm applications took their campaign to the skies on Monday (February 13th).

They launched a blimp hundreds of feet into the air above the spot where the turbines could be built near East Huntspill.

Campaigners from the Huntspill Wind Farm Action Group launched the balloon at the same height as the proposed turbines to show residents and motorists the scale of the plans.

“The blimp will fly at 400ft, demonstrating the enormous height these structures extend to,” spokeswoman Julie Trott told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Both EDF and Ecotricity say their turbines, which would be placed near to the M5, would not spoil the landscape and are needed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
