West Huntspill’s Orchard Inn is set to close this weekend for a major £160,000 refurbishment which will “breathe new life into the pub,” its owners have announced this week.
The popular pub in West Huntspill’s Main Road will be temporarily closed from February 16th until late March to allow work to get underway on the major uplift.
Punch Taverns, which runs the pub, unveiled the plans and also said this week that it is looking for a new publican to run the property.
In a statement, Punch spokesman Clive Chesser said: “The Orchard is a fantastic pub and Punch are very much committed to the pub’s long term future and success.”
“The Orchard is due to close for a £160,000 investment which will breathe new life into this much-loved pub. The Orchard will re-open at the end of March with a brand new look and a fantastic food and drink offer.”
“Our teams are actively recruiting for a new publican and we would like to thank our current publicans for their hard work and commitment at The Orchard. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours.”
One West Huntspill resident who lives close to the pub told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s really good news to see Punch Taverns investing in our village’s pub and showing its commitment to keeping it running.”
She added: “Too many pubs in the area are closing in rural areas. We just hope that they find a new publican soon who is equally dedicated in its future.”
Those interested in running the pub should click here. The Orchard has a catering kitchen providing for up to 65 covers at peak times. A separate function room is used for hosting, meetings, private functions and skittles.
Outside, The Orchard has a large car park, with space for up to 35 vehicles. There’s also an external drinking area, a dedicated smoking area and a detached double garage. Domestic accommodation consists of two bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge.
