West Huntspill’s Balliol Hall has been handed a major funding boost by Sedgemoor District Council and Viridor Credits to enable it to extend its facilities.
The hall has recently completed an extension costing around £27,000 to allow better storage of equipment owned by groups and clubs that use the hall.
Around £12,000 was received from waste firm Viridor and £10,000 came from Sedgemoor District Council’s Village Hall Capital Grant fund.
Councillor Peter Clayton, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, has this week presented a plaque to the Balliol Hall to acknowledge the council’s help in funding the extension.
Balliol Hall Chairman Philip Buoy told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the expanded equipment storage area is a big boost. “It helps provide users with space for their kit and belongings – and helps groups including the West Huntspill Players drama group, the WI, Short mat bowls, parish council, and church groups.”
Monica Hall, hall committee member, added that the extended hall “makes a fantastic difference – it makes everything so tidy. We are really pleased with it and so grateful to Viridor, the district council, the hall organisations and local people who gave donations.”
