Judges at West Hunstspill’s annual horticultural show had their hands full on Saturday (August 15th) when they had to assess a record 850 entries!
The number of flowers, vegetables, fruit and craft entries was well up on previous years, delighting the event’s organisers, Bill Fisher and Jane Moreton.
“It’s been a record year for the show, with large numbers of entries across many categories. The quality has also been very good,” the show’s Chairman, Bill Fisher, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
John Inder won no fewer than four trophies, including the sought-after cup for the most points in the the horticultural classes. The full list of trophy winners is at the bottom of this page.
Burnham’s Mayor, Derick Cooper, and Mayoress Christine Cooper said they too were “very impressed” by the quality on display during their visit to the show.

Jason West was delighted to win the trophy for the best flower entries.
Melissa and Rebecca Fear picked up several prizes in the childrens’ classes.
Tables in West Huntspill’s hall were laden with a record number of entries.
