West Huntspill Players drama group is celebrating this week after several members won top awards at a regional ceremony.
The Players were delighted to receive nine nominations at the 2018 Somerset Fellowship of Drama Phoebe Rees Awards, held in Ilminster at the weekend.
The group won the prestgious ‘Gordon Neagle Memorial Cup’ for Best Non Theatre Performance for their comedy ‘One Man Two Guvnors’.
And Alastair Murray, a longstanding member of the club, won Best Cameo (Male) for his role as Alfie in the Players’ performance of ‘One Man Two Guvnors’.
The nine nominations were for Best Creative Set Design for Season’s Greetings, Best Props for Season’s Greeting, Best Cameo (Male) Alastair Murray, Best Supporting Male Actor Dan Webber in One Man Two Guvnors, Best Actress Clare Virgo in Season’s Greetings, Best Male Actor Phil Crossland in One Man Two Guvnors, the Gordon Neagle Memorial Cup for One Man Two Guvnors and also for Season’s Greetings and Best Direction David Jenkins for Season’s Greetings.
The group’s spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are all over the moon at winning these awards during a very successful year for the club.”
