A village church near Burnham-On-Sea has launched a £500,000 fundraising campaign to raise enough money to make urgent repairs to its roof.
West Huntspill Church has begun a five-year project to undertake the work as part of a major refurbishment.
Reverend Tonya Nixon, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Unfortunately, the current roof is coming to the end of its life and a project is needed to get the repairs underway.”
“We have had water into the church several times and the walls are also deteriorating but because the church is listed preservation is an important part of the work.”
Churchgoers and local residents have been invited to donate towards the project and a number of grant applications are to be submitted.
