The Burnham-On-Sea area is set to be hit by high winds and heavy rain today (Wednesday), the Met Office has warned.
It has issued a yellow warning, saying there is a risk of 70mph gusts around local coastlines this evening when heavy rain is also forecast to sweep in.
“Gusts of 65 to 70 mph are expected along exposed coasts and over high ground. Gusts of 50 mph are likely more widely,” said a Met Office spokesman.
“Winds will gradually ease from the west during the night. Outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, will accompany the strong winds and will add to the difficult driving conditions.”
“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely whilst outbreaks of rain, occasionally heavy, will add to the difficult travel conditions.”
Beach users have been advised to take care and check the Burnham-On-Sea weather and Burnham-On-Sea tide times and not put themselves at risk.
