Burnham-On-Sea area residents are being warned to expect some potentially wild weather late this week.
The Met Office has issued a warning for strong winds and heavy rain across the region, to include Somerset, for Friday (February 3rd).
Gusts of 60-70mph have been forecast, and there is the possibility that these could reach over 80mph along coasts.
The Met Office says the winds could damage trees, buildings and disrupt power supplies and cause travel delays.
“A number of potentially vigorous low pressure systems are likely to move quickly towards northwest Europe later this week.”
“One of these, on Friday, may affect parts of southern parts of the UK. However it is worth stressing that there are a number of scenarios in which the strongest winds miss the UK altogether.”
“Even so, spells of wet and windy weather will be affecting many areas later this week.”
