Heavy rainfall in the Burnham-On-Sea area left several roads under water and delays on the M5 motorway on Friday morning (September 5th).
Police put up warning signs along one part of Coast Road in Brean, as pictured, after heavy rain left pools of standing water.
Meanwhile, the historic 60 year-old ship ‘Balmoral’ was due to sail past Burnham-On-Sea on Friday morning on its second trip of the year to Dunball, near Bridgwater, to pick up passengers for a Bristol Channel excursion.
However, the trip was cancelled by the bad weather. Owner Waverley Excursions blamed the late change on “adverse weather conditions”.
One lane of the southbound carriageway on the M5 motorway next to Burnham-On-Sea’s junction 22 was also closed in the middle of the morning.
The Highways Agency shut lane one just after the sliproad at 11am after a lorry broke down in the bad weather. The motorway was fully re-opened later in the morning.
