A long-running group that represents Burnham-On-Sea’s anglers, marine rescue services and boat users has a new Chairman and Secretary following a meeting on Friday (November 27th).
Ricky Holmes stepped down as Chairman of the Burnham Water Users’ Forum after a 20 year stint. And Chris Spencer, who is Bridgwater Bay’s Harbour Master, stepped down from his role as the group’s secretary.
Both were formally thanked for their considerable work during the past few years, which included lobbying Sedgemoor District Council for improvements to the town’s jetty.
Pete Nicholson of Burnham Boat Owners Association was chosen as the new Chairman while Simon Stroud, also from the association, became the new secretary.
Ricky, who continues to be Burnham RNLI’s Operations Manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Water Users’ Forum was formed 20 years ago to improve communication between the various groups who use Bridgwater Bay. In that time, we’ve resolved a lot of issues and problems. I feel it’s now time for some fresh faces to lead the group, which is why I’ve stood down.”
