Tap water supplies are starting to get back to normal across Burnham-On-Sea after two days of problems caused by a burst water main.
Bristol Water spokesman Jeremy Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday evening (September 4th): “The water main which burst between Cheddar Treatment Works and Brent Knoll is now fully back in action.”
“The major main involved feeds the local treated water storage reservoirs and these ran very low overnight. A large number of properties in the area, especially those at higher levels, experienced poor pressure or lost their supplies for a time early this morning.”
“The situation has improved steadily today, with customers reporting supplies returning as the system slowly recharges. The reservoirs are gradually refilling now and the situation is beginning to return to normal. There may still be some instances of poor pressure, but these should gradually disappear.”
“It is also possible that for a short time in a few places the water may appear discoloured. Just run the tap and this will disappear.”
He added that Bristol Water would like to thank all those customers who responded so well to advice during the incident to use as little water as possible in order to make scarce supplies stretch further.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported yesterday how Bristol Water had urged residents to use as little water as possible to conserve supplies following a water main burst at Rooksbridge.
