Emergency water supplies are being offered to residents in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge after more taps run dry in parts of the town following Saturday’s major water mains burst in Love Lane.
Bristol Water says taps ran dry in parts of Poplar Lane, Church Street, The Uplands and Burnham Lane in addition to Burnham and Highbridge town centres. There also was low water pressure in many other areas.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier today how several businesses in the town had been forced to close due to the problems, which first occurred last night.
Spokesman Jeremy Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Sunday evening that work on repairing the burst main is “progressing well.”
He added that supplies should be reconnected later tonight and be back to normal on Monday.
“Bottled water has been delivered to vulnerable customers in the Burnham area and water is available free of charge in the car park of Burnham’s Tesco supermarket, at the car park off Cross St and Oxford Street; at Burnham Medical Centre car park and at Burnham Holiday Village for those in need.”
He added that further water tankers are available to be deployed if necessary and one is already assisting holidaymakers at Burnham Holiday Village, where supplies have been affected.
