Somerset Council is asking residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area to “park considerately” over the Christmas period to avoid blocking rubbish collection crews and other large vehicles.
The council says that with more vehicles parked outside homes over the festive holiday, narrow roads can become more difficult to access.
Somerset’s waste collection crews can be delayed or prevented from making collection stops.
A spokesperson for Somerset Council Waste Services said: “We are approaching Christmas and with more cars at home over the festive break, it’s important to make sure we all park considerately.”
“Our crews do their best to get to everyone – but cars parked in tight spaces can slow down or prevent collections. Please be considerate when you park and remember – if we can’t get our trucks through, then a fire engine can’t either.”
