Traditional Somerset wassailing ceremony to be held this evening

-

The centuries-old tradition of Somerset wassailing – when good health is wished on apple crops for the coming year – is to be held near Burnham-On-Sea tonight (Saturday).

Burnham Rotary Club and Rich’s Cider Farm in Watchfield are teaming up to hold the event from 7pm.

The evening will include entertainment from The Mangled Wurzels and Bob Darch, plus cider and other refreshments, with proceeds going to charity.

Tickets cost £7.50 each from Rich’s Cider on 01278 783651. Entry is free for children under 12 years.

Burnham Rotary Club President Hugh Mackay told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are grateful to Rich’s Cider for facilitating our annual Wassailing Evening, which will be raising moiney for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance this year.”
