The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain and high winds in the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Saturday).
A yellow warning has been issued as a spell of stormy weather is set to arrive this morning. Winds could gust up to 70mph and there will be several hours of heavy rain through the day.
A Met Office spokesman says: “A spell of heavy rain is expected to develop across western parts of England and Wales, becoming slow-moving in some areas.”
”There is a lot of uncertainty in where the rain becomes prolonged but some locations are likely to see 15-25 mm during the day with isolated totals of 40-60 mm possible over higher ground in particular. Rain is expected to ease through the course of Saturday night.”
Bridgwater’s fireworks display was cancelled last night (Friday) due to the weather, but tonight’s Bridgwater Carnival is set to go ahead as scheduled.
Sunday evening’s forecast for the Burnham-On-Sea fireworks is for a 50% chance of light rain and 18mph onshore winds.
And Monday’s forecast for the Burnham-On-Sea Carnival is for an overcast but dry evening with a 20% chance of rain. There will be light northerly winds that will make it feel chilly.
