Prayers were led by the Legion’s Acting Chaplain, Reverend Ken Piper, who explained the importance of remembering the nation’s war dead.
The Legion’s President, Jim Flocton, recited the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph.
Legion members then placed small crosses in the ground next to the memorial in memory of those who fell in the two world wars.
“This service happens each year at this time ahead of our main remembrance service next weekend. We encourage local people to place crosses here in memory of those who died in the two world wars,” said Rev Piper.
