Burnham-On-Sea residents have been warned that time is running out to get themselves registered to vote in May’s elections.
To vote in the District and Parish Elections and UK Referendum on the voting system, residents must appear on the Register of Electors and the last date for applications to get listed is April 14th.
“Anyone who has moved house in the past few months needs to register with their new address. There may also be many people in Sedgemoor who have not yet registered to vote, which means they will be missing out unless they take action,” Sedgemoor’s Electoral Services Manager told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“They will need to register before April 14th to be able to vote in the election on Thursday 5th May.”
Residents can request a registration form by calling Sedgemoor’s Electoral Services on 01278 435268 or by printing off a registration form from here.
Adrian Green from the Electoral Commission, the independent elections watchdog, added : “Residents may also be planning to be away on 5 May, given the extra Bank Holiday for the Royal Wedding. So it’s worth applying now to vote by post or proxy if that will suit your plans. Application forms for postal votes will also need to be returned to Sedgemoor by April 14th.”
