Burnham-On-Sea event shines spotlight on volunteer groups

-

Eight volunteer groups from across Somerset attended a special awareness day in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (March 12th).

Volunteers from the Royal British Legion, Police, Dreamscheme, BARB, Nightstop, Street Pastors, the RNLI and Marie Curie Cancer Care were among those who attended the ‘Volunteers In The Community Roadshow’ at Burnham Baptist Church in College Street.

The event was organised by the local branch of the Christian Police Association as part of its COACT project to help community groups work closer together.

Spokesman Gavin Jennings told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The roadshow was a great success in bringing together these volunteers to highlight the good work they do.”

Safety advice and leaflets about volunteering were given out during the day-long event, which attracted a steady stream of visitors.

Above, Burnham Police also promoted the event with a High Street stand
