Visiting Dutch carnival band welcomed to Burnham-On-Sea by town Mayor

-

A traditional Dutch carnival band was formally welcomed to Burnham-On-Sea by the town’s Mayor on Sunday (November 3rd).

Cllr Andy Brewer welcomed the 35-piece band Krak Oe Noot band from Zaltbommel in Holland before Sunday evening’s fireworks display.

Bands from Holland have been making formal visits to Burnham-On-Sea during the Carnival weekend every couple of years since 1995.

The group played on Sunday afternoon at the Sea Cadets HQ in Casis Close in front of an audience from the Burnham and Highbridge Gateway Club, raising money for them.

The band are playing in Burnham today (Monday) as part of the build-up the carnival and also performed before the Burnham-On-Sea fireworks display on Sunday on the seafront.

Cllr Brewer said the group always gets a warm welcome from local people and their lively, upbeat music brings smiles to the faces of onlookers wherever they play.
