VIDEO: Secret World rescues ducklings from drain after mother duck dies

-

A family of six tiny ducklings has been rescued from the bottom of a road drain by wildlife carers from the Burnham-On-Sea area.

Response drivers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue were called to a street in Bristol to retrieve the tiny youngsters last week.

Marlies Hebdon of Secret World Wildlife Rescue told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The ducklings got into difficulty after their mother duck had sadly been run over.”

“A driver saw what happened and the ducklings ran off and fell down a drain and needed rescuing.”

“Elise from Bath Vet Group witnessed the sad demise of the mother and called us for help.”

Secret World volunteer Kat is seen here in the video retrieving the ducklings by stretching down to the bottom of the road drain to reach them.

The ducklings were brought in a box back to the Secret World Wildlife Centre in East Huntspill.

Heat lamps and a toy duck have been used to provide the ducklings with warmth and comfort to help them recover and grow, as pictured below.

Marlies added: “All six ducklings are doing well – they need constant feeding, and are growing up fast and getting stronger every day!”
