Huge Easter crosses have this weekend been raised on the top of Brent Knoll by a team of volunteers to mark the start of Holy Week.
The three crosses are a familiar sight on the Knoll at this time of year and have been installed at Easter for over 40 years except some recent years.
The pandemic meant they could not be installed in 2020 or 2021 but they returned in 2022 and 2023. Safety concerns amid wet weather meant they were not installed in 2024.
A team of over 30 volunteers climbed the Knoll to raise the crosses on Saturday (April 12th) over a period of around an hour and a half.
Zoe Ryder, from Burnham Baptist Church, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This has been a traditional part of Easter for many years. My father helped to start the tradition in the 1980s and it’s a wonderfully special way to mark Easter.”
Thousands of motorists on the M5 motorway see the crosses on top of Brent Knoll throughout the Easter period along with local residents.
