Over £200 was for raised a local charity by a Burnham-On-Sea hotel encouraging visitors to attach colourful baubles and ribbons to a Christmas tree to serve as touching tributes to loved ones.
Over the festive season, The Victoria Hotel in Burnham-On-Sea’s Victoria Street sold festive baubles and ribbons – with space on each to write brief messages remembering people who have passed away.
Donations were collected for local charity Somerset Time For Youth, raising a total of £261.
Victoria publicans Shaun and Carla McCann say there was lots of interest in the scheme for the town’s Christmas tree outside the hotel.
Shaun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A big thank you goes to everyone who helped to decorate the tree and raise a great sum for a super charity.”
Carl, pictured, added: “We wanted to let our customers decorate the tree while raising money for a good cause.”
“By doing this, we helped local people remember loved ones at Christmas and also helped a great local charity.”
Somerset Time For Youth offers social and leisure activities for local special needs young people from across the Burnham-On-Sea area aged 0-18yrs.
