Vandals leave 3-metre rip across ‘Welcome to Burnham’ banner in town centre

-

‘Mindless’ vandals have this week ripped a huge banner that welcomes people into Burnham-On-Sea.

The ‘Welcome to Burnham-On-Sea’ banner in Victoria Street is owned by the Town Council and has been sited on the hoardings at the former Tuckers garage development site since 2016.

The banner was removed over the summer to allow the wooden hoardings to be painted by street artists during Burnham’s BOSfest.

And it then returned in September and covered over some controversial street art on the hoardings which divided Burnham public opinion.

One local resident, who asked not to be named, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a disgrace that the banner has been damaged in this way, presumably by mindless vandals. I hope the culprits are found and repair it.”
