Over 120 vintage vehicles visited Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening (June 4th) during the 18th annual Vale of Avalon Vintage Vehicle Road Run.

Police cars, fire engines, classic cars, lorries and motorbikes were among the vehicles taking part in this year’s popular event, which attracted a crowd of onlookers to the town’s seafront.

Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, had the tricky job of judging them.

The Mayor’s Cup for the best vehicle went to a 1960 Morris Minor owned by Weston teenager Ben Harris (pictured at the top of this page).

Ben, 18, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m really pleased and quite shocked to have won – I’ve only owned the car for a year, but have put a lot of work into it so this trophy is wonderful.”

The Mayor said he had chosen the car because it “really stood out”, adding: “It was a difficult decision because there were so many superb vehicles, but the owner of this car clearly takes pride in owning it.”

The event’s organisers, Den Stone and Dave Hilburn (pictured right) said they were pleased with how the event had gone.

“We had a great line-up of vehicles this year and it was nice to have such a wonderful reception here in Burnham,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Thanks go to everyone who has supported us. We hope to have raised a good sum for the Mendip Multiple Sclerosis Society.”
