Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has this week welcomed new figures that show unemployment has fallen in our area.
The new figures show local jobless rates have fallen to their lowest levels for the past couple of years.
Government figures released this week show more than 200 people have found employment in the constituency over the past month, bringing claimant figures down to 2.3% of the total population.
MP Tessa Munt, pictured, said: “I am delighted to see more people in my patch able to get back to work – the figures are certainly encouraging and we should take heart from this.”
“However, this should not lead to complacency; youth unemployment is still worryingly high and I will continue to do all I can to support local young people here as their MP to improve the situation.”
