Burnham-On-Sea’s Carnival Queen was the special guest at a special silver surfers internet education day in the town on Friday (June 4th).
Jessica Rogers was on hand to greet visitors at the BAY Centre in Cassis Close for the annual UK Online event, which this year had the theme of ‘Face your on-line fears’.
Jessica, who had also helped to set up the computers, talked with several of the users about using the Web.
BAY Centre UK Online Co-ordinator and BAY Club Vice Chairman Mike Lang told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was good of Jessica to spare us some time from her busy schedule.”
“At the Friday technology sessions we use donated computer equipment, and clients’ own laptops to access online teaching programs. Our strategy is to help clients access the Internet safely with minimum inconvenience.”
“All the activities here depend on volunteer help, and we urge interested parties to come forward, whether it is for the computer technology sessions, The Shed youth cafe, Gateway Club, or even at the Tuesday morning Stroke club, who also need volunteer drivers to bring in members to the sessions.”
